Becoming Ourselves
The Art of Living Effortlessly by Dr. Ingrid Bacci
Our world is in the throes of both inner and outer transformation. Many of the triggers behind the changes we are experiencing are extremely uncomfortable. We change only when we need to and it is pain that tells us we need to change. The fear that has guided our lives and the all too superficial focus on material pursuits; and individual satisfaction; have created devastations everywhere. Our external life, obsessed with competition, consumption, waste and an appalling irreverence for the planetary forces that sustain us, faithfully reflects back to us the consequences of our relationship to ourselves. That relationship to ourselves; build up through generations of materialism and of the promises that have made that philosophy appealing is a relationship of neglect. For all our cultures so called individualism, most people have very little true sense of themselves or a purpose to their lives that they can eagerly espouse. It is no wonder that, if we focus on externals and find our validation primarily in what we do and in what we get for what we do; we will never find ourselves.
The Art of effortless living is an antidote to the effortful lifestyle of doing and performing; however one way to journey into ourselves, is a pathway to Being.
It is a practice for becoming ourselves and it includes creating our own sources of well being by learning how to give richly to the world around us. That is a way to begin creating solutions to the sufferings of life that every single one of us encounters - in an attempt to encourage our culture to raise its sights from its present barbaric focus to a higher vision for humanity. While raising our sights take more discipline than staying down in the mud, the rewards are far greater.
People are in pain, in some degree psychic pain and many suffer from physical pain as well. The suffering reflects the heritage of a society that gives no importance to inner development. We can't go on this way much longer, many know it and we're looking for a way out of the impasse. That way out has to be a way in! Whatever the other challenges are that we face for the 21st century, there is no question that inner development forms a huge piece of the answer to our personal, cultural and global crisis.
Inner growth is a slow and incremental process that accomplishes extraordinary results through what often look like minute daily changes; most of them involve making small but definite shifts in our lives. Sooner or later, those small changes transform not only who we are but also what and whom we draw into our world.
Living in the philosophy of being, just like living in the philosophy of doing outlined in our lives; express itself in a holographic pattern that spread through all of our lives.
The changes, we alter our relationship to our bodies, emotions, spiritual life, creativity and our relationships; seemingly insignificant shifts in each of these areas; that support shifts everywhere else, until there comes a time when our entire lives take on a new turn and we have become new and different people.
Self - Awareness is the Key! It grows quietly, a powerful force that moves mountain through its subtlety. Cherish this truth: It is through regular practice of rediscovery of your inner power and its growth; you begin to see that you have been holding back all the gifts you are meant to give to life. You are not meant to accept low standards that rule our world. You have the capacity to transform those standards and to inspire others to follow in your footsteps. You can give yourself what you need and you are not meant to hold back your love for others. Rather, the more you can bring yourself to others, the more you nurture the foundation of your own life and the lives of those who respect you. Take courage and give others courage through your examples. Trust your earnest heart and honest mind shine through all your endeavors.
