Consciousness - the Road to Self -Transformation
Everything in our world is going through changes, be it politic, climate, energy or humanity - individually or collectively; bringing forth unprecedented changes and opportunities for living in new ways. We are finally being released from our old lives so we can step into new positions that challenge us to become more magnificent and True Beings than we ever thought possible. This shift can initially feel uncomfortable, but it will be ultimately rewarding beyond our Wildest Dreams.
My recent overseas trip, give me an insight into my own life of healing process.
I went back to attend my god daughter's wedding and visit my family & friends in Singapore; after an absent of almost one and a half year without travelling anywhere. I was amazingly surprised how many people - including myself, family & friends have physical breakdown and suffering from some sort of physical illness due to global culture / social pressure and stress .... A wake up call for all!
My chronic illness flared up at end of 2007 to 2008 was inevitable & natural product of the cultural values I grew up with. Even over the years of healing, I was still caught in the cultural addiction to stress for I follow the rules and they made me sick. Even though I knew better than that, I was repeating my addictive patterns of old belief systems unconsciously. All around me, I see other people who, like me, are seriously or chronically sick as a result of living lives enslaved to cultural norms. We have saddled with dissatisfying relationships or with demanding but unrewarding professions or with a loss of creativity. Our culture actually discourages inner growth and self-awareness, stifling the ultimate source of our sense of fulfillment. I myself have earned success at the cost of deadening my sensitivities, consciousness and my body.
Although the medical community are emphasizing and offering the techniques to relieve stress, but the culture itself is still geared to rewarding stress. The more the companies are using fear base tactics to pushing you towards working harder not smarter, to stay in your jobs; during this current financial crisis and jobs retrenchment possibilities; this is the carrot of reward they are dangling in front of you. The more competitive you are, the more you get rewarded, the more you worked, the more you get rewarded. The more you did for your spouse or children, the more kudos you got in their eyes. The more you accumulated, the more recognized you get in the social rating.
Televisions, movies and the printed media addicted people to stress by over-stimulating them with scenes of junk food, drugs, sex, violence and fear. People learned to associate happiness with being hyped up, even though that didn't feel particularly comfortable. A lot of people aren't especially happy, even though they are successful and fortunate enough to be financially stable; living their supposed lifestyle dreams, they lacked contentment. It seems they couldn't get enough what was making them less than happy: the bad food or diet, the negative images in the media, the competition and more than anything else; the drive to prove themselves in other people's eyes - their lives are stuck in a record groove. They kept on playing the same tune endlessly, until they would go mad. In their own way, many of them are going mad, but they couldn't help it, they didn't know anything else; they couldn't see how much they are hurting themselves, because they didn't have a point of comparison and lacked adequate knowledge or wisdom even tools for changing. They are constantly living in the society maddening repetitive groove and never tried a fundamental new melody of wellbeing.
What happened to me through those long years of my disability was just a very dramatic result of living by unconscious social rules & patterns that other also live by.
My recent physical breakdown and healing journey, has shifted me to another energy dimension and this time a deeper learning about the process with in-depth understanding and wisdom in the mind, body and spirit connection or alignment; in order to share my experience in my work with people. The superficial common knowledge of mind-body work is bout thinking nice thoughts in order to boost your immune system, that's not really it. Mind- body work must include the spirit and the emotion release; involves tuning within, listen to your body and using your awareness to directly influence how you feel as a whole person. It is about getting really at peace with yourself; happy with what is, feeling alive, expansive and free. The key to this is to explore and raise your consciousness or vibrations.
My physical problems put me on a journey of self discovering led me far from the conventional values and aspirations, into studies of religions, bodyworks and the alchemy of self-transformations. I opened the door to working with my consciousness which I then began to tape into inner resources; profoundly neglected by our culture. The exploring, cultivating and strengthening the power of mind, body and spirit connection and disciplines; provided the key not only to health but also to emotional wellbeing, happiness in relationships, peak performance and creativity. I discovered when we paid attention to learning about and developing our inner power, we would find our way to adopting an enriching lifestyle that grew from our deepest potential.
Purely physical treatments is not enough, it does not provide the critical ingredients for change. A change of usual lifestyle has to be totally overhauled - healthy food and diet has to be upgraded, conscious intent - positive thinking or gratitude replaces the negative and discontentment; forgiveness of self and others- by acceptance of who & what you are; without plunging into guilt, self-blame and self criticism or judgment; and by acknowledging the responsibility of your actions and reactions to others. A complete journey embarking into your own inner consciousness about life where the real problem is, must take place before a full healing can take place. This is the art of effortless living. Making those unconscious rules conscious stimulates the process of healing, opens the doors to more expansive living in finding a richer and more authentic life, by adopting a new set of skills that simultaneously promote radiate health, emotional authenticity and enriching relationships; allow us to reach our maximum potentials..
Healing is a term applies to many aspects of our lives. It can be healing a physical illness or emotional pain. Healing is also an internal process of transformation that releases us from binding energies, removes obstacles and enhances those processes that help us further evolve. A perceived need for healing indicates that we must cleanse ourselves of fear, anger and pains. Fear is our primary enemy, it fosters disease, it also complicated intimacy, inhibit achievement, destroy integrity and limit creativity. It has infiltrated and took up residence in our culture unconsciously. Once established within us this fear creates a psychological commitment to effort & stress; then pattern the way we think and live physiologically, psycho-emotionally and spiritually. This commitment to fear is not conscious, if you are not in awareness and often unconsciously play havoc in our lives. We cannot release this commitment without embracing a journey into our bodies and our souls to discover that the body, the mind and the spirit are all One. The divisions are man made & artificial.
The ability to live effortlessly and in Divine Order of Wellbeing, unfolds as you learn to be present to your body; when you make your internal experiences primary and external factors secondary. This is a process for achieving " flow' of energy, to continually to deepen bodily relaxation, release somatic tensions and engage to express unrecognized emotions that are stored in your cellular memory. A single deep-seated self-destructive pattern can be traced in its holographic impact on all aspects of our lives; ranging from physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health to relationships and professional performances. This process of release sets the foundation for development of authenticity, which is to create your life individually and communally; according to your own preferences rather than reacting to life, as you think you are supposed to according to external judgments and priorities.
The key for transforming this pattern into bodily responses, is by alienating our bodies through the process, that help us shift the relationship to our bodies in a way, that once again spreads the body's empowering influence holographically through all other dimensions of our lives. The focus is on achieving personal awareness, empowerment and interpersonal community. The rewards of listening to and utilizing the language of the body are well worth the effort. There are tools for transforming effortful into effortless living and generalized malaise into pleasures. Some of these tools such as meditation, visualization or affirmation techniques, bodyworks, higher consciousness etc., provide effectively for the most powerful results in the process of meeting major personal challenges and self - transformation and the freedom to express your best self.
